Artist's Comments

I made these based on the Apple Mac OS X compressed archive style. Again, file types are colour schemed in my mind :)

I deliberately left the icons without text labels to make them more versatile to the user's choice of compressed format.

In my mind they are:

Amber: ZIP/Generic
Red: RAR
Cyan: ACE
Lime: PAK
White: 7Zip

Use them as you wish :)

P.S. I also included the PNG formats for Dock users.

I seen them before. made by another iconist. hmm cant really rember who it was (see my journal)

The base of the icon is from the original Apple Mac OS X's BOM Archive Helper. I believe the original is lime coloured as well. I modified it slightly, recoloured to suit my tastes, and brought it in to Windows :)

I looked through your journals and the links to find what you were talking about, but some of them are broken (404). If it's not too much trouble could get me the link to the artist you mentioned? It would be interesting to see someone else's take the same icon idea :)

I'm sure a lot of people have done Mac OS X icon ports. I ported a whole bunch of Apple icons (approx. 1500 icons) for personal use. I generally prefer the quality and style of the Mac icons over the Windows ones, especially for hi-res icons (i.e. Docks). However if it's not my work, then I won't upload it.

I like your work by the way :) Very clean and stylish. Thanks for noticing and posting :D
