The base of the icon is from the original Apple Mac OS X's BOM Archive Helper. I believe the original is lime coloured as well. I modified it slightly, recoloured to suit my tastes, and brought it in to Windows
I looked through your journals and the links to find what you were talking about, but some of them are broken (404). If it's not too much trouble could get me the link to the artist you mentioned? It would be interesting to see someone else's take the same icon idea
I'm sure a lot of people have done Mac OS X icon ports. I ported a whole bunch of Apple icons (approx. 1500 icons) for personal use. I generally prefer the quality and style of the Mac icons over the Windows ones, especially for hi-res icons (i.e. Docks). However if it's not my work, then I won't upload it.
